‘Lifestyle Asia’ features MVP and women leaders in two-cover Power Issue

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Power wears many faces in the October issue of Lifestyle Asia. One of the two cover for this month has PLDT chairman Manny Pangilinan, together with Noel Lorenzana, chief executive officer and president of Mediaquest, and Oscar Reyes Jr., Cignal TV’s COO.

The cable television network, which secured a deal with Bloomberg, hit one million subscribers in a few months and was revving up for the next million with plans that included made-for-Cignal only programming. The other cover is a first in the industry, featuring women who lead and women who can. On the roster are Tessie Sy-Coson, Doris Magsaysay-Ho, Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno, Marixi Prieto, Grace Tan Caktiong, Nedy Tantoco, Margarita Fores, Florence Ko, STAR lifestyle editor  Millet Mananquil and Thelma San Juan.

“They are forward thinkers who had enabling parents, exacting mentors, an aptitude for business, perseverance, giftedness, competencies and the gumption to cross boundaries on high heels.”

It was fortuitous timing that the issue featured Philippine STAR Media Group president and CEO Miguel Belmonte in the LA Lives section. Belmonte, who is also president and CEO of Business World, recently received the CEO Excel award, and the release of the issue comes on the heels of the recognition from the IABC Philippines. “We were much pleased that after years of trying to persuade Miguel to share his story, he finally agreed,” says editor in chief Anna Sobrepeña. “He is low-keyed and prefers to be under the radar. As I mentioned in the article, he is disarming for an absence of self-importance and bluster.”

Other special features focus on women who can like Sara Black, who is pushing for solar power energy, Patty Chilip and her initiatives in digitalizing insurance services, and Ana de Ocampo’s pursuit of bespoke food concepts. Dizon sisters Janina and Candy continue to set the pace in creative jewelry design, while Alex Madrigal Eduque shows that no one is ever too young to make a difference in improving people’s lives.

Lifestyle Asia, the five-time Quill award winning luxury magazine, is the leading and longest-running glossy in the country. This month’s edition is now available at newsstands and leading bookstores.
