What are you most grateful for?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

I have often been told that happiness is having the right mindset towards anything and everything that comes our way. Believe it or not, the numbers that drive people to being happy consists of one percent aptitude and 99 percent attitude. I personally believe that how we perceive life is how life will treat us, and of course our attitude towards life will either move us or hinder us from our goals. Being grateful is one of the attitudes that I constantly practice.

When an opportunity or experience comes my way, no matter how it turns out, I know that there will always be something to be grateful for. In the end, the mindset through which we choose to perceive life is the direction we will be moving towards in our lives.

Former Senator Migs Zubiri

What I consider my greatest blessings are my wife, Audrey and my kids. I am nothing without them and they are the center of my life. Many have their riches and great monuments and others have their insatiable need for power. I, however, believe that it’s your family and how you raise and nurture them that matters the most in this world. It is they who will continue your legacy on Earth.

Kariza Gonzales, interior designer

Love. Our capacity to love and share love makes life so much more worth living. That, and good art.

Korina Sanchez-Roxas, journalist

I am most grateful for tomorrow. Every tomorrow is a chance to recuperate, to apologize, a chance to do better, correct a mistake, a possibility we will smile again. Tomorrow means hope for the best yet to come, that we need not regret, that our dream might still be realized. No one, nothing can assure us of tomorrow — except God. This is why I’m most grateful for each sunrise.

The wonderful people that surround me; the good health of my loved ones; the small voices that call me mommy, their happy laughter and their thin, tight hugs.

Julius Babao, news anchor, Bandila

I am grateful for my job. Because of my job at ABS-CBN, I am able to support my family and help many other families through my public service programs on radio and TV. I am grateful for having a great family and a very supportive wife. I am most grateful to God. If not for Him all of these would not be possible. That’s why at the end of each day I always ask Him to use me as an instrument of his goodness.

Atty. Karen Jimeno, professor, TV host and columnist

I am most grateful for my newborn niece “Aila,” the first grandchild in our family.  It amazes me how a tiny baby (who can’t even talk yet) can make a huge impact in our lives.  Ever since she was born, I’ve been adjusting my work schedule so I can squeeze in every opportunity to see her. My parents (both workaholic lawyers) have transformed into overeager babysitters. I think baby Aila has prolonged the lifespan of our family members with the happiness she brings. I hope people don’t take this type of blessing for granted... even if it’s their second, third or nth child.

Lucille Villanueva, homemaker

The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is thank our Lord for: a good night’s sleep, for a new day, for protecting, comforting  and healing and for good health for my children, Marybeth, Bobby, Caloy, and Trish, my grandchildren Natalia, Seb, Nic, and Claudia, my son-in-law, Jerry and daughter-in-law, Rosalie, and myself. For financial blessings.

Weng Domingo, trustee, Museum Foundation

For the privilege of being an instrument of the Lord’s will like being able to raise art awareness in Filipino children through the Newseum project.
