What Halloween mask would you create?

During the Halloween season, ghost stories are retold, homes and malls are decked with cobwebs, skulls and skeletons, and costume parties are thrown. Wearing a mask is probably one of the easiest ways to look fab and spooky. Read on as these celebrities share their dream Halloween masks.

Since making masks is truly a very expensive and time-consuming affair, I’m taking the easy road this Halloween. I will just take a selfie, while being trapped on the parking lot known as EDSA, in a middle of a flood, on a payday Friday. All I have to do is print my selfie with the expression of shock and horror, on an old T-shirt, and wrap it over my face. I’m doing this as a protest, as I am filled with indignation at having been a victim of mind-numbing vehicular traffic every day. But then again, I really doubt if this will make an impact to some politicians I’m addressing, since they’re used to seeing ugly “things” every day. Maybe an elaborate Venetian mask will do the trick.

I would like to be the opposite of Maleficent — “Beneficent.” So imagine me in a Maleficent costume but white in color, like an angel! Maleficent actually means a person that inflicts harm or evil. There are just so many maleficent people in politics and society that you just want to spread and inflict more good and hope it spreads like a virus and contaminates everyone else to do good.

A mirror mask! I’d be a hundred different faces for one night and who wouldn’t want that? Okay, maybe just me. Could also pass as the Mirror On The Wall in Snow White.

I love the occult and the macabre. If I had the talent and resources, I think I’d make myself a bull’s head as a mask — complete with huge horns. Then I’d just walk around parties in my underwear and platform heels made to look like hooves and look like the devil in drag. But how would I drink or eat? This would be one of those outfits you regret when you get to the party.

 I always associate Halloween  with lots of fun and loads of candy.  One of my favorite Halloween costumes that I created was that of Ursula, the villain in the Disney movie The Little Mermaid.  I remember doing this costume for myself several years ago and I had so much fun becoming the character and making the costumes. In fact, I joined a Halloween costume contest using the same costume.  It was a really memorable night filled with lots of laughter and cheer.

For the ultimate scare, I would love to recreate in full detail the getup of Nightmare on Elm Street’s Freddie Krueger — from the red and dark-green striped sweater, brown fedora and trademark metal-clawed brown leather glove. He’s one of the scariest characters around and I remember getting nightmares about him when I was still a kid.
