Ipanema dares you to do the ‘selfeet’

MANILA, Philippines - If, for some reason, your selfie posts on Instagram and Facebook are getting fewer “likes,” maybe it’s time to take the art form to a whole new level — literally a notch lower, which your followers might find more interesting than your round face — your feet!

Ipanema, the premium Brazilian fit-flop brand, launches the #IpanemaSelfeet campaign, which dares  young stylistas not just to bare their sexy feet,  but also to create their own adventure — with a pair of Ipanema — and capture the memorable moment with a “selfeet.”

“The ‘selfeet’ campaign is Ipanema’s end-of-the-year shebang. We are always looking for interesting ideas to make Ipanema’s presence felt in the market and the social media is a good avenue to further promote the brand,” says ELRO Corp. managing director Patxi Elizalde during the campaign launch at Tres Restaurant in SM City North EDSA, Annex. The event also coincided with the opening of Ipanema’s fourth branch at the ground floor of SM North EDSA, Annex. The store offers the latest collection with fun designs inspired by the vivid and colorful Brazilian lifestyle and its signature buttery-soft sole.

To kick start the program, Patxi Elizalde and Ipanema’s Cecile Loretizo invited media guests to visit Ipanema’s new store, try on a pair of Ipanema flip-flops (lots of designs to choose from), take a “selfeet,” and upload the photo on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #IpanemaSelfeet. The photo with the most number of “likes” got to take home a pair for free.

“A series of mall events dubbed ‘Ipanema Selfeet Sunday’ will be held in key cities like Manila, Cebu and Davao to encourage Ipanema users to take their ‘selfeet’ wherever they may be,” adds Loretizo.

The Ipanema Selfeet Sunday starts today at Robinsons Ermita in Manila. Open to the public, the event will feature stations complete with Ipanema flip-flops and fun backgrounds worthy of even the most discriminating selfie aficionado. Also, get a chance to have a “selfwe” with Ang Diary ng Panget and Talk Back You’re Dead stars James Reid and Nadine Lustre, popularly known as JaDine.

The fun continues online with the #IpanemaSelfeet contest on Facebook and Instagram. Simply upload your Ipanemaselfeet on Instagram or on the Ipanema Philippines Facebook page with the hashtag #IpanemaSelfeet and get a chance to win a special accommodation at Punta Fuego in Batangas, Ipanema flip-flops or get 20 percent discount when they buy a pair at Ipanema or Bambu stores.

“Ipanema flip-flops are the perfect companion for any adventure. No matter where you go, your feet will definitely take you farther — in  comfort and style,” adds Loretizo.

So go ahead, get a pedi, slip on your fave Ipanema pair and take a “selfeet.”
