Ayala Malls’ Style Origin Series concludes at the Ayala Center Cebu: A grand curtain call for style at Ayala Center Cebu
MANILA, Philippines - Cebuanos flocked The Gallery of Ayala Center Cebu’s expansion wing to witness the final leg of Ayala Malls’ Style Origin series. Homegrown brands, Filipino designers and clothing and accessories brands were highlighted in two spectacular nights of fun and style.
Style Origin, a signature event of Ayala Malls, the country’s premier lifestyle and shopping destination in the country, is a series of activities that highlights music, fashion, design and lifestyle. Now on its fourth year and in partnership with The Philippine STAR and Starworld, and in collaboration with the country’s top lifestyle magazines Mega, Meg and Chalk, Style Origin empowers men and women with inspiring trends and focuses on the everyday fun. The series kicked off last May in Glorietta Makati and has since created a buzz nationwide with each leg sparking great excitement with spectators. For its final stop, the Style Origin series came full circle at The Gallery of the Ayala Center Cebu last August 2 and 3.
Mensweek
Mensweek at Ayala Center Cebu featured 37 of the country’s sought-after designers, including Cebu’s Cary Santiago, Edwin Ao, Philip Rodriguez, Philipp Tampus and Yvonne Quisumbing.
Based on the concept of protection with acetate lining as the main fabric of his creations, Edwin Ao experimented with loose silhouettes in gray, black and white shades. Meanwhile, Philip Rodriguez gave an exciting twist to every event staple — the formal suit. His modern day tuxedo featured a geometric brocade fabric for the coat and vest paired with a stylish wing tip collar shirt in crisp pique cotton.
Taking you back to history is Cary Santiago’s Prince of Persia-inspired creation of knits and linen pants. For Santiago, street wear for men in today’s generation has no rules anymore. Basketball superstar former UST Growling Tigers and Rain or Shine shooting guard Jeric Teng strut the catwalk with confidence in a Noel Crisostomo piece together creation while surprise guest, Sam Milby thrilled the audience in a Do.Se creation. After modeling Anthony Ramirez’ masterpiece, Kris Lawrence entertained the crowd.
High Street Fashion Show
The High Street Fashion Show on Sunday was a burst of color and character. The show cohesively carried the “Southern Sophistication” theme, a reflection of Cebu’s stylish Cebuano vibe and both active and laidback lifestyles with classic but trendy, hip and vibrant ensembles as embodied by the 37 notable participating clothing and accessories brands for adults, teens and kids.
With creativity as the heart of this year’s Style Origin, Ayala Malls teamed up with the country’s style authorities such as Supreme editor Tim Yap, YStyle editor Regina Belmonte, Meg’s Patrick Galang and Bianca Gonzales, Chalk’s Kate Paras and Elain Carag, Mega Magazine’s Peewee Isidro and Rainier Dagala, and America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12 runner-up and Style Origin first look book cover model Allison Harvard for the Editor’s Pick segment which opened the show.
