Inner health brings physical health

FROM THE HEART - Gina Lopez - The Philippine Star

We live our lives and try to figure out what works and what doesn’t. That way we keep getting better. So here are my recent tidbits for living well.

For my 60th birthday, my youngest brother gave me a Nike bracelet that measures calories. This is to ensure that my activity during the day burns enough calories and that I don’t lead a sedentary lifestyle which in the end is degenerative because one needs circulation to keep the life forces moving. The biggest plus of this bracelet is that I was motivated to exercise — because I had a target calorie burn. There really is something to having targets; something inside gears up and wants to achieve.

Upon exercising every morning, I was able to figure out what activities burn more than others. I found out that doing the trampoline for 10 minutes burns up to 500 calories! What I have is a cell exerciser which is a very sturdy trampoline. You can get it from Rica Villalon (0917-8397839). So, given my busy lifestyle, I was back to a cell exerciser/trampoline regimen.

At the Lopez Wellness Seminar held for the media recently I met Edward Mendez who gave a talk on “Eat More, Exercise Less.” Huh? What’s that all about? But when you see him — and when you see his pictures — you think, wow, Mr. Bodybuilder! He looks like he has zero fat. A very well chiseled body. And then he put up pictures of his clients who have maintained their weight, but look so much better because they have more muscle and less fat.

His basic principle is to eat many times during the day to keep the metabolism going. As for exercise, he doesn’t support long workout sessions. Rather short but intense ones. And not even every day — just three times a week. His cardio prescription is 23 minutes a week. For me with perennial time issues, I thought, Hmmm. I am going to try this. He has a book which is doing very well. The title is Your Dream Body Come True. You can get it in National Book Store. I gave a copy to my trainer and asked her to come up with exercises based on his principles.

I had my first such session with her. I sweated more and I feel much tighter. I was a little sore the next day, but not enough to incapacitate me. Intuitively I feel this is the way to go. You can contact Edward Mendez at yourdreambodysolutions@mail.com.

Mouth sore

The last two days I’ve had a mouth sore. I hadn’t had any for years. I figured it was the heat, and one night I was so tired, I didn’t oil pull. I fell asleep without brushing my teeth. I woke up with a singaw...

So what did I do? A lot. I tried vinegar, because my helper said that worked for her. Then I tried tea tree oil, as per the advice of a friend. I tried hot water and salt. They were all good but in the end what really worked — as in it was gone the next day — was applying healing crystal salt (which you can get at G Stuff). Ouch! I took in the pain, then I found putting ice cubes soothed it. The sore was gone the next day.

So now I am sore-free! I have to figure out how not to get so tired at night. This is what I discovered.

Electronics are energy drainers. Thoughts are energy drainers. If I sit and work on my iPad and surf the net, eventually, after about an hour, there is depletion of energy. This has been a major challenge because I find YouTube so entertaining. Especially the videos with millions of hits. But my experience is if I overdo it, it makes me tired.

Resolution: I should run the night section of my day in such a way that I get ready for bed before I get really tired. Then I can sleep well and deeply.

Lastly and most importantly: I would like to invite you to an Inner Space Interactive Sourcing (ISIS) Intensive on May 26 to June 1 in Tagaytay. If you haven’t attended a meditation workshop yet, then this is a prerequisite. This will be from May 24 and 25 in the same place. The purpose of the meditation workshop is to open and develop intuitive capabilities, and use these skills in the ISIS intensive. It is a spring cleaning of the subconscious.

My experience and my observation is that most of the reactions of people are unduly influenced by what is in the subconscious. A regular “cleaning” and de-clogging of the subconscious is totally in order. It makes sense. Experiences that haven’t found their healing clog up one’s energy and create a heaviness in one’s system which ultimately affects one’s health. The human being is comprised of body, mind and spirit. I am confident that this is the reason why at 60 I feel happier and healthier than several decades before. Happiness brings health. It just does. Really. Try it. Observe.

When you are unhappy, you feel heavy. Look at Janet Napoles. Before she was caught she was okay. Now that she has been in the spotlight in a negative way, her health has suffered to the point of having to undergo surgery. Inner health brings physical health. It is scientific.

The reality is that life is chaotic and is designed to be that way. The goal is to be able to navigate life and still be intact. You can’t address what you can’t “see.” That is where intuition comes in. That is what ISIS is all about. Seeing what is there in the subconscious — even experiencing it so it is not just intellectual — and then taking very effective measures to address the gunk. I have been doing it for over 10 years. It works. In the Intensive session you will receive ISIS, and you will learn how to give it! More importantly, this will hone your intuitive skills which are deeply useful in living a productive life. This will be helpful for the people around you. I feel that this will especially helpful for psychologists and psychiatrists because they deal with individuals with problems. Solutions cannot be technical. An element of depth and intuition is always in order.

If you are interested, email me at regina_lopez@abs-cbn.com. If you would like an ISIS session just to experience what it is all about, I can also give you one in exchange for a donation to the environment. I look forward to seeing you there. There are two instructors coming from the States. This may be their last visit this year so I suggest you try to find the time, and if not, maybe you can reserve for next year’s session.

We have this life; we figure out how to live it in such a way that at the end, we look back and say, yes, it was a life well led and I am happy to move forward.
