The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - It’s been three years since the devastating accident . . . three years since Mia walked out of Adam’s life forever. Now living on opposite coasts, Mia is Juilliard’s rising star and Adam is an LA tabloid fodder, thanks to his new rock star status and celebrity girlfriend. When Adam gets stuck in New York by himself, chance brings the couple together again, for one last night. As they explore the city that has become Mia’s home, Adam and Mia revisit the past and open their hearts to the future-and each other.

If I Stay has been described as, “ A gorgeous portrayal of rejection and rekindled love,” by USA Today.  Author Gayle Forman is an award-winning author and journalist whose articles have appeared in numerous publications, including Seventeen, Cosmopolitan and Elle in the US. She lives in Brooklyn with her family.

WM PAUL YOUNG’S ‘CROSS ROADS’

It was in 2007 when a Canadian Christian self-published a book he had originally written for his family as a Christmas present. His name was Wm Paul Young and the name of the book was The Shack. It went on to become a publishing sensation selling over 18 million copies worldwide including 600,000 in the UK. Its exploration of a man’s grief following the brutal murder of his daughter gained strong commendations from many high-profile Christians.

Wm Paul Young’s second novel Cross Roads is about Anthony Spencer who is egotistical, proud of being a self-made business success at the peak of his game, even though the cost of winning was painfully high. A cerebral hemorrhage leaves Tony comatose in a hospital ICU. He “awakens” to find himself in a surreal world, a “living” landscape that mirrors dimensions of his earthly life, from the beautiful to the corrupt. It is here that he has vivid interactions with others he assumes are projections of his own subconscious, but whose directions he follows nonetheless with the possibility that they might lead to authenticity and perhaps, redemption.

The adventure draws Tony into deep relational entanglements where he is able to “see” through the literal eyes and experiences of others, but is “blind” to the consequences of hiding his personal agenda and loss that emerge to war against the processes of healing and trust.
