Star Movies and Skycable hold ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ movie screening
MANILA, Philippines - Star Movies of Fox International Channels Philippines, in partnership with Skycable, the country’s largest cable TV provider and pioneer in HD cable TV, treated guests to an exclusive block movie screening of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug last Dec. 11 at Greenbelt 3, Cinema 1.
Star Movies and Skycable brought the second installment of the three-part series based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ novels to hundreds of its guests. The Desolation of Smaug, which follows An Unexpected Journey’ and precedes There and Back Again, serves as the prequel to The Lord of the Rings’ series.
Set in Middle Earth, the film is centered on Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman, who travels with Gandalf and 13 dwarves to reclaim their homeland Erebor. Co-written, produced and directed by Peter Jackson, The Hobbit grossed a worldwide total of over $200 million on its first week.
