The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - In partnership with The National Theatre, London, Dusit Thani Manila will stage the play of the famed The Elephant Man today and tomorrow at the Poolside Pavilion.

The Elephant Man is the story of John Merrick, born with several physical deformities in the late 19th century in London.  Considered a freak, John was forced to earn a living by performing in the carnival. He was rescued by a doctor at the London hospital who then treats him humanely. The play is based on the 1980 film starring award- winning actors Anthony Hopkins, Sir John Gielgud and John Hurt.

Onstage for the performance are Robin Berry, Caroline O’ Hara, Paul Haley, Daniel Foley and Nigel Miles Thomas, who have performed with the National Theatre, London.

The schedule of performances is as follows: matinee shows are at 3:30 p.m. at P750 for students and P1,000 for adults, while evening performances are at 7:30 p.m. at P1,500 per person.
