What’s one item you own that you consider timeless?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

We all have our favorite possessions that are priceless and personal items that are timeless. Our favorite pieces that we keep in a special place in our homes are items that will and can go beyond our lifetime and can be passed on to our children, whether it’s a piece of furniture, jewelry or clothes.

Read on as personalities in fashion share with us their favorite timeless piece.

Liz Uy, celebrity stylist

Diamond earrings. It’s an heirloom piece.

Raul Manzano, editor in chief, Metro Society

My mom’s portrait in oil by artist Garcia Llamas. The portrait was painted when my mom had just turned 40 — she was then at her most beautiful. It now hangs in my living room.

I would consider my diamond ring the most timeless thing I own. It was given to me by my grandma before she passed away. It is an exact replica of her engagement ring because I was the only grandkid named after her.

Regine Velasquez, singer

Diamonds and jewelry!

Nix T. Alañon, principal designer, FTADesign l PhoeNix Home

I would consider the furniture and home accessories that I have acquired through the years to be timeless pieces. From items that I picked up from travels both here and abroad, each piece has its own story to tell and will have more history as time goes by!

My diamond stud earrings are timeless, and I know will never go out of style. Diamond studs are probably the first piece of jewelry most girls get to wear — the tiny studs we get when we first have our ears pierced. It’s the one item of jewelry that I have worn since I was a little girl, still wear to this day and will love forever.

My engagement ring. It’s one item that is precious to me because it was bought with my husband’s hard-earned money when he was just starting his career. It’s something I can pass to my little girl Kelli to remind her of her dad’s love and commitment.

When I received this week’s question, I was reading Vogue’s Ageless issue. And there was a cover line about Timeless Fashion Fixes for this season and beyond, and it really is a joy to find a piece that transcends time and trends. Even before Sharon Stone famously wore a black Gap mock turtleneck T-shirt to the Oscars, I have loved that style. A black turtleneck can take you from the beach to the ballroom, and it evokes a design ease. I have black turtlenecks in thick and thin knits, with short and long sleeves and even some vintage ones from my mom and one in faux fur from a now- famous designer when he was still starting out. I think I’ll be wearing them forever.
