I met the imaginative and original Sheree Gotuaco when we were both panelists for a retail conference. She shared how she used social media and other digital means to promote her brands Freeway, Ensembles and Solo. In her recent launch of the Lucio San Pedro fashion line, I asked Sheree to share with me a few of her favorite books.
These are five of them :
1. Freakonomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner
“It describes how phenomena happen by using economics’ pattern of thinking and analyzing data. Some of the more interesting topics are how the crime rate fell in the US and how it was caused by something not obvious at all. I cannot forget this story.â€
2. Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
“Malcolm Gladwell is one of my favorite authors. I also enjoyed his books Blink and The Tipping Point. From Outliers, he popularized the theory of 10,000 hours needed for world-class expertise.â€
3. Personal History by Katherine Graham
“I did not really know much about Katherine Graham until we had to read this book for my book club. I was amazed at the many things I have learned, like the impressive society connections that her family had, her amazing rise from struggles and how she meticulously documented and kept many things like personal letters... it was as if she was planning her autobiography early on!â€
4. See Jane Win by Dr. Sylvia Rimm
“This is a good book about raising daughters by child psychologist Sylvia Rimm. Her book came from a survey of 1,000 successful women and what common factors they shared from their childhood to adolescence. I didn’t realize that some of the smartest women are not just in fields like medicine or law, but in music as well!â€
5. How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie
“This is a must-read classic for everyone. My husband and I like it and we hope to teach our kids many valuable practical lessons from this book.â€
