Who are the foreign celebrities you’d love to see in Manila?
Having the likes of Adam Levine, Lucy Hale, Sting, Lady Gaga, Nina Garcia, Sarah Jessica Parker in Manila is a dream come true. So, who else — foreign celebrities — would you want to see in Manila one day?
Denise Aquino, owner, Tokyo Posh
I would like to bring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to the Philippines. I think that this couple would be best to talk about cancer awareness in the country. I am sure that with their celebrity status and influence, more people will be inspired to have themselves checked regularly, know their options and eventually prevent the rising number of cancer patients in the country. I personally applaud Angelina for going public with her double mastectomy, for choosing life over vanity, and for opening the eyes of the world to the dangers and possible prevention of cancer. And as for Brad Pitt, I now have the highest respect for the man who is standing by his wife, supporting her through it all.

Madonna! I’ve loved Madonna since I was in grade school. It would be awesome to watch the queen of pop perform in Manila.

Lea Michele from Glee. The growth of her character on the show is so inspiring. You see it manifested in her personal life as well — how she’s blooming and more comfortable in her own skin than ever. I’d love for her to come to Manila to share with us her journey from Broadway to the big screen.
Tess Santos, owner, Sapato Manila
Madonna! I grew up listening to her music and she is a great artist and performer. A living legend.
Amor Maclang, communications strategist, GeiserMaclang
Shonda Rhimes, the genius behind the series Scandal. I’d like to personally meet and talk to the person who has brought to the fore the kind of work that we do — I have used her series character Olivia Pope as a way to explain what I do (unfortunately, not the scandalous bits of her character!) — to help people understand, because the role that we play is always behind the limelight, and not known to many. I feel it is important and urgent for our people to understand this because the Philippines has one of the highest risk factors in the world. And as a crisis and risk strategist, any risk that escalates into a crisis I feel is an affront to my sense of being a Filipino. Why? The next few years constitutes the year of the Philippines, between the credit rating, and AFTA and ASEAN and the bullishness of the economy, I simply cannot afford any issue to prejudice any gains we’ve made so far, especially if these risks could have been mitigated in the first place.

I would absolutely love it if U2 decided to hold a concert here and Bono, in his philanthropic way, could be the honorary guest at a charity gala. Now, that would be an amazing experience!
Patrice Ramos Diaz, fashion designer
The celebrity I’m dying to see in Manila is Kate Moss. Anyone who loves fashion will surely agree that Kate Moss is the epitome of cool, sexy, effortless style. She is the fashion icon of the millennium.
Techie German Hagedorn, designer, Alegre
I am a big fan of Oprah Winfrey and I would love to have her come visit the Philippines. She would come with an open mind and I’m sure she would love the people and our country. She has a massive fan base/following and she could be a very good “ambassador†for us in promoting the country.
Karmina Constantino Torres, news Anchor, ANC
I would absolutely love to see Rachel Zoe go bananas over the stylish people of the Philippines. I think she would fall in love with our designers in a heartbeat.
Nicole Ortega, housewife
It would have to be Brangelina for me (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie). Aside from wishfully thinking of meeting Brad Pitt, my deep hope is that they would have a heart for the Philippines and help out in the country’s development. From the depressed areas where women need education, to the plight of our street children and infrastructure for the poverty stricken. I could go on and on. I really admire the vision and compassion of this couple and can only dream that they can extend it to our beautiful country.
Divine Lee, TV personality
I would love to see Anna Wintour in Manila. We have a lot of undiscovered talents in the fashion industry. And if there’s one who can open doors for our designers it’s her. I also want to see Victoria Beckham. I’ve been a fan since her Spice Girls’ days. I had about everything Spice Girls, even their soft drinks bottle! Wouldn’t hurt if she can bring David, too!
