What more do you want in your life?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

I have found that if you love life, life will love you back. — Arthur Rubinstein

The quote above is one of my favorite quotes. That life gives you what you give to it. These last three years of my life have been the greatest. It all started when I decided to make the most of my life, to try to be of help to others without expecting anything in return, to make others happy in every little way I can, to always count each blessing that comes my way and, most important of all, to be happy within and make the most of each day.

Rep. Gina de Venecia, 4th District, Pangasinan

Personally, I wish that my all my children and grandchildren will live happy and meaningful lives. As a public servant, I wish I can help make Dagupan City the showcase of good governance and progress that trickles down to every constituent of the city, good health and long life for President Noynoy Aquino, and a purity of heart and intention for every future leader of our country.

Rocio Olbes, bag designer

I can honestly say that there is nothing more that I would like for my life rather than for it to just keep progressing in the way it has been. I feel so humbled and blessed with all that surrounds me, especially for the love and health of my family and friends. After all, it is the special people in our lives who make life worth living.

Sherryl Yao, head, public service TV5

From being a news reporter to becoming the head of News 5 public service, from being on-cam to off-cam, I am now more fulfilled by leading the Rescue 5 team in serving others. I would like to inspire more people towards positive change and action that would empower all Filipinos regardless of socioeconomic standing.

Quito Jose, chef and owner, Brothers Burger/Ninak Asian Cuisine

I want a Porsche 991 pdk. I want to learn more about different cuisines, and travel with my family, a nice beach home and a lovely baby girl. And lastly to grow old with my wife!

Jessica Kienle, furniture and interior designer

I would like to ask for more time to be able to do everything I want to do in life! There is just so much I want to experience and accomplish... And one lifetime just doesn’t feel like enough!

Ambassador Manuel A.J. Teehankee, international counsel and adjunct professor, Ateneo School of Law

To live to see the Philippines governed under a true and lasting rule of law, which is founded on the three pillars for a model modern society — political, economic and environmental justice and equity for all.

Butch Raquel, CEO for corporate communications, GMA 7

To have the strength to travel to places I have always dreamed of going to. To see my teenage son finish college and have his own family. These are what I’d like more for my life.

Rep. Wes Gatchalian, Alay Buhay party list

I guess none! After going out campaigning and seeing the hardships of many of our kababayans every day, I can certainly say that I have more than enough in my life. Every day on the campaign trail, I cannot accept seeing thousands of our countrymen still hungry, children eating fewer than three times a day, elders waiting for their time due to lack of funds to pay for their medicines and so on. Every night, I come home with the realization how truly blessed I am. I don’t want anything more in my personal life but a lot in my life as a public servant. Every day is a fight for our countrymen, against hunger, lack of jobs, healthcare, quality education and decent homes. It is in our hands (as public servants) to find the solution and long sought-after change for our countryman.

Rep. Emmeline Aglipay, DIWA party list representative

I have been very blessed and I thank the Lord with every breath for the life that He has given me. When I pray there are some things that I still ask for in life.  First, that my parents live a long and healthy life. I love my parents so much and owe what I have to them. They’re the best! Second, I pray that the Lord heal me and keep me healthy. My parents also told me when I was still a little girl to pray for a good husband because the right partner comes through God’s grace. So I’ve been praying for God’s best for me, someone who will love me and be faithful to me and whom I will love equally and be faithful to as well. Lastly, it would make my life so very happy if I were to be blessed with healthy children and a happy family. But in everything, our ultimate prayer is for God’s will to be done. In Him alone can we find true happiness in our lives.
