MANILA, Philippines - R.O.X., Salomon and the Philippine Skyrunning Association (PHILSKY) have partnered to donate shoes to a group of mountaineering guides living in Barangay Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet. Passionate hikers and trail runners traded in their old shoes at R.O.X. stores in exchange for exclusive discounts on Salomon Shoes. These old shoes were collected and turned over to the group in Mt. Itogon last Feb. 8.
The barangay has 24 active tour guides and porters. All of them have undergone training and seminars for tourism front liners and team-building activities.
Mountain treks are currently one of Tinongdan’s income-generating activities. The area is composed of 78 sitios with about 5,000 residents. Thirty-four kilometers away from Tinongdan is Mt. Ugo, that can be reached through hiking.
With the donation, Itogon’s local guides can continue to practice their trade, earn an income and help build Mt. Ugo’s tourism potential in the country.
R.O.X. is the exclusive retail carrier of Salomon Shoes in the Philippines. Its stores are located at Bonifacio Highstreet, Taguig City, Ayala Center, Cebu City Marquee Mall in Pampanga, Ayala TechnoHub, Baguio City and Ayala Centrio Mall, Cagayan de Oro.
