Fitness and Adidas in the Year of the Snake
MANILA, Philippines - The Year of the Snake makes me think about a need to become svelte in 2013. Having been born in the year of the Rabbit, I have to work extra hard on my fitness goals –– with this year not being so auspicious, health-wise. As a sports buff, gym rat, dog walker and sometimes, runner, I know that looking good at all times, more so when I have my fitness gear on, has become a must.
I was head over heels in fitness love when I took a trip to the newest Adidas store recently. The young vibe of the folks over at Adidas put me in the mood for visualizing the new, slimmer, sexier me.
The recently opened Adidas store at BGC is in a most ideal spot, too, because it is accessible to both hardcore athletes and active enthusiasts –– right at the heart of BGC, where runners, bikers and all sorts of fitness buffs converge.
At the Adidas bash that officially opened its newest store carrying various lines of Adidas shoes and apparel for basketball, running, training, football, as well as Adidas Originals, guests were treated to a fashion show featuring models like Rocky Salumbides, Luke Jickain and former Bb. Pilipinas Marie Ann Umali.
Hosted by Rjay Ty, Wave 89.1’s best new artist for 2012, the event was graced by top models and celebrities. The catwalk, painted with Adidas’ trademark three stripes, allowed models to traverse from the store’s interiors to the program area along the Two Parkade walkways in BGC.
Guests danced and partied to the tunes of DJ Nix Dam P, champion of the Best Buy DJ Spinoff in Los Angeles. Beatbox Philippines also put on a show by challenging the DJ to a battle, as they made their own renditions of songs by Adidas global ambassadors. As a special treat, one hundred attendees were handed balloons that contained discount coupons.
“It’s not just about being an athlete or being into sports. The new Adidas outlet will further promote the importance of having an active, healthy lifestyle, which Bonifacio Global City has successfully fostered,“ said Adidas Philippines brand activation manager, Adrien Semblat.
