Seoul invades Manila

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Korea’s recent surge in the entertainment industry has sparked tremendous interest from abroad, particularly South East Asia, and most especially here in the Philippines. Beginning with TV dramas such as Winter Sonata, the success soon spread to the field of movies and popular music.   In fact, K-Pop is currently Asia’s hottest music industry.  Fans all over the world have been captivated by K-Pop stars’ good looks, amazing dance moves, and catchy tunes.

On Feb. 9 at the Aliw Theater, “Seoul Invasion” will happen with Tahiti, A-Prince, Excite, Delight and Mellow:D  not just performing for their fans but also interacting with them.

Known as the Hallyu wave, it is nothing short of a cultural tempest much like the upsurge of rock n’ roll, or America’s hippie culture in the 70s.  Against the growing tide of globalization, K-Pop, or Hallyu has come as a transformative counter-tide that fully illustrates creative industries development as the west has bannered it.

Tickets are available at all SM Ticket outlets in SM Cinema branches located across the nationwide chain of SM Supermalls.    Get 30 percent off when you buy two tickets (same section - VIP, Patron or Gen. Admission).  The first 250 ticket buyers from VIP-Center (P5,000) and VIP-Side (4,000) will get a free commemorative CD,    50 lucky members of the audience,  drawn by lots, will get exclusive invites to an after-concert party with the featured artists.

For information, call 470-2222.
