What one thing in life can you always count on?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

Our journey in life is never easy — and never a solitary one. We need people to help us, guide us, and be our friends. Sometimes they are there to fulfill those roles, sometimes they’re not. Then there are those special people that — no matter what happens — are always there by your side.

Dr. Aivee Aguilar Teo

The one thing in life I can always count on is my mother’s home-cooked food, which always puts a smile on my face.

Karmina Constantino Torres, news anchor

My faith.  It has carried me through the toughest of times and embraced me during my happiest moments.  I can always count on my faith to make me the strongest I’ve ever been and the humblest I’ve ever known myself to be.  My faith makes me dare to dream while counting the blessings I already have.

Ming Arroyo, marketing manager, Anlene Fonterra Brands Phils.

Life may take you through different directions but the one thing you can count on is your parents.  Through the joys and the trials they’ll always be there no matter how good or not so good you’ve been in life.

Julie Jalandoni Boschi, director of sales and marketing for Horizon Homes, Shangri-La at The Fort

I can always count on my family’s love and prayers . My husband and children never fail to make everything better, brighter and more special.

Sol Aragones, former news reporter, ABS-CBN

It’s my family! Through ups and downs they’re very supportive, anumang desisyon ang gawin ko sa buhay lagi nilang sinsabi na silamg pamilya ko ang lakas ko.

Chesca Garcia Kramer, actress/model

If there is one thing in life that I can count on, no matter what trouble life may bring, it’s my walk with God. I think when all else fails, if you have an intimate relationship with God there is peace in your heart knowing He will deliver you from whatever trouble, worries and pain you might be going through.

Puey Quinones, fashion designer

During the time that I was on top of my game, the only things I thought I could always count on were money and material things. When my controversy happened, everything changed. I got depressed and got to the lowest point of my life and I thought I found a diversion in watching DVDs and it occupied my mind, but I realized that it was only temporary and was not doing me any good health-wise. And I finally surrendered, I tried praying and opening up and going back to my family. My family showed and gave me unconditional love and never left me during the darkest times of my life. And that inspires me to pray and give myself to God and ask for His guidance. And now, I really believe in the powers of prayer. You just have to surrender to God and He will never leave you no matter what. He is the only one we can always count on. Because He knows what’s best for us.

Jun de Leon, photographer

My wife Abbygale Arenas. She gave me the best 16 years of my life.

Precious Hipolito Castelo, QC councilor

My parents. They’re so inseparable so I’ll just mention them as my one thing/person. They have been my source of strength and inspiration especially during trying times or low points in my life. I can always count on them, from seeking their advice on making tough decisions to fending for my kids whenever I need to be away on an official trip. My parents inspire me to be a better person and be fearless every time, and I’m thankful that I can always rely on them.
