Himalayan salt inhales, moisturizing socks, and other health finds
Because health is so important, let me add to what I said in my column a month ago (July 8, 2012).
Himalayan salt Inhaler
I’ve been using this daily and the effect for me is marked. I looked it up on the Net and was surprised to find that even Dr. Oz (of Oprah) had recommended it. What I do is I bring it with me in the car and I use it when I am in traffic, especially on my way home. I find that when I get home I am not so tired. Usually, I am soo pooped I just plunk in bed. I am sure that even when I’m sitting in an air-conditioned car, some of the pollution of Metro Manila seep in. My hunch is that it is probably really good for asthma and other respiratory diseases. It has an effect on my calmness. This makes sense because air is so connected with one’s state of mind. Look it up on the Net. I think it costs about $39. In the health food store, it costs $33.
I am so happy that I have found something to protect me from the pollution.
Moisturizing Socks and Gloves
You can get these at the Beauty Bar. I have been using these for several years now. I love the product. First, you put your lotion or oil and then put on the socks and the gloves. So while you’re sleeping, you get a moisture treat. I am also malamigin so it’s great for me. If in stock, get the light aquamarine — I find that it is much softer than the other colors.
Argan Oil
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it is available here. I found it at Essenses. If you go to the US, get Jose Maran. I can vouch for it. It’s more pricey but it is 100-percent argan. If you are not travelling for some time, just go to Essenses.
Going to Sulit.com.ph I found out that there is a company that can deliver argan oil products to you and it’s even cheaper than the market. I tried their argan for hair and body and used it on my face. It’s good. It’s especially designed for travelling because it means you just bring one bottle for so many uses.
Oh, how I wish we could find something like argan oil in our forests. I am sure there are products there that have yet to be discovered.
Air Purifier
I wrote about it once, but I am going to write about it again because a month ago we had a team building and planning workshop in Tagaytay. The place has an amazing view of the Taal Lake and Volcano, but the rooms had a heavy musky smell that usually comes from lack of fresh air. Then when I went to the conference room where we would be spending all our time, it was even worse because the room had no windows at all. It was like a box full of stale air.
So I immediately called up my house and asked them to send my Hyla air purifier. When I had first tried it, I noticed I slept better. But I didn’t realize how effective it was until I brought it to the Conference Site in Tagaytay. My staff whose allergies got activated upon entering the conference room said that after the Hyla was operational his allergies settled. What’s great about the Hyla is you can put lavender or whatever oil-based drops you prefer into the water and it pervades the room with the smell while cleaning.
When I use it in the house, it takes a week to two weeks before I replace the water. After a few hours, the water turns black! So I kept running it before the conference times (since it is a bit noisy) ... and I ran it in my room before I slept. Vacuumed the carpet with it, vacuumed the bed, and I slept really well and I was able to meditate, which is important to me.
Unfortunately, this is also a bit pricey, but I would consider it value for money. It really really works! And it is portable so you can bring it to your office or wherever you go. After seeing how it cleared the air and the carpet, I have now instructed my help to use it to clean the car, the seats ... everything since I go to the esteros and I plough through the traffic of Metro Manila. If you are interested in the Hyla Air Purifier, call Maynard Isidro at (0923)314-3656.
I use it in my kids’ room and anywhere where we congregate. It will take away the smell. It was a life saver during the planning conference. We all had a really good time. We touched heart to heart, made commitments. I don’t think we would have gone that deep if the air we breathed had all this dust.
This one is a good investment.
Happy healthy Living! We have this life. Let’s make the most out of it.
