If you were a superhero for a day, what would you do?

WORDS WORTH - Mons Romulo - The Philippine Star

As children, we used to think that we were invincible. But now that I am older, and as I go through my daily life — I encounter success, but also some stumbling blocks that make me realize that I am not in a perfect world. There are things I can do through hard work and perseverance, yet being human there are things that take time to accomplish and goals that are unattainable. These are the moments when I wish I was a superhero.

If you were a superhero for a day, what would you do?

Anthony Semirad, San Bedabasketball player

If I were a superhero for one day I would get rid of poverty around the world and make sure no one gets hungry or thirsty again!

Ricky Toledo and Chito Vijandre, style setters

If we were a superhero for a day we would reverse all the destruction wrought by man on the environment, his surroundings and his fellow men.  We would also send positive energy so that every person can be enlightened to never repeat these sins again and be the best that he could possibly be.

Robert Seña, award-winning stage actor

I would swim the deepest sea, climb the highest mountain and cross the wildest forest to be with all the dangerous animals in the world. But that would take days. So maybe I’ll save people from danger or kick some criminal ass.

Rica Maceda, preschool teacher, wife, mother

If I were a superhero for one day I would use it to save as many lives and help as many people as I can. I will also use that day to face my fears — go bungee jumping, sky diving and finally go on the Mummy roller-coaster ride!

Rima Ostwani, deputy directorof services, Discovery Primea

I’m far from a sporty person and if I could be a superhero for one day, I would definitely brave it and try things that I would never imagine myself trying — base jumping from the Eiffel Tower or the Empire State Building, both of which are in my favorite cities in the world, and swimming with the great white sharks in the Caribbean.

Mai C. Kaufman, Operation Blessing advocate, mother and wife, owner-K.A.R.M.A.

As I find traveling to new places uplifting, refreshing and fascinating, if I could be an immortal for a day, I would like to widen my experience of our beautiful and wondrous universe by diving deep into the ocean and exploring outer space.

Risa Hontiveros, chairperson, Akbayan Party

I would travel back to witness the wondrous creation then through some of the high points of human history and civilization, then — not to the end of the world because who knows when that is? And I’m not sure I want a glimpse of it (laughs) — but, Rizal-like, to “the Philippines a century hence” to have a joyful foretaste of the future of our beloved Inang Bayan.

Vina Morales, actress

If I were a superhero for one day, I would save all the people who are in danger!

Grace Molina, model

There are so many things I want to do! I wish it was longer than one day, but yes, I would swim the deepest ocean and reach the bottom of the sea, and if I still have time I would sky dive without a parachute. That would be awesome! Or I want to do something useful in this world, I will fight in the war, I will go to Syria, investigate the war that’s happening right now and kill the ones causing it. Please don’t ask me why not in the Philippines. I cannot kill my kababayans.
