I remember doing a hospital scene with Mang Dolphy. Preparing for the scene, he was quiet, almost mumbling in our small humorous talk about the script, then the remarkable transformation came when the lights were turned on, then the assistant director hollered “Tape rolling, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, action!” Mang Dolphy’s face lit up, his back iron straight, then I felt the powerful surge of energy that almost made me lose my lines in awe as to how this man transformed into the entertainment god that he is right before my eyes as the countdown to action fired! Unforgettable and amazing! Of course, needless to say the scene was hilarious. Then he just went back to his usual calm self, the great Mang Dolphy!
