'Mothers for Others' at Dusit Thani today
MANILA, Philippines - A celebration with a heart. That's what makes “Mothers for Others” a different kind of Mother's Day event unfolding today at 10 a.m. at the grand ballroom of Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati.
The program celebrates the joys of motherhood and pays tribute to mothers. But it also beats with compassion. Its organizers — the Bantay Bata Advisory Board composed of Kaye Chua-Tinga, Nanette Medved-Po, Audrey Tan-Zubiri, Jackie Lhuillier-Hess, Dawn Zulueta-Lagdameo, Carla Ramsey,Manny Padilla and Rajo Laurel — are yearly faced with a never-ending list of indigent pediatric heart patients . Now in its second year, “Mothers for Others” raises funds for children born with congenital heart diseases , giving 100 percent of proceeds to the children in the list who need help the most.
A ticket means an invitation to an international buffet at Dusit Thani’s award-winning restaurants — Umu for Japanese fare, Tosca for Italian cuisine, Benjarong for Thai delicacies, and Basix for classic dining.
A children's fashion show features the works of Inno Sotto, Pepito Albert, Randy Ortiz, Cesar Gaupo, Rhett Eala, Jojie Lloren, Ivarluski Aseron, Cary Santiago, Joey Samson, Rajo Laurel,Jun Escario,Patrice Ramos-Diaz, and Dennis Lustico.
The ticket also entitles guests to a family portarit by renowned photographer Raymond Isaac. Robert Blancaflor is doing the decorating and flower arrangements.
Partnering once more for the second year is Lifestyle Asia, whose editor in chief Anna Sobrepena shares: “Best lives are those given for others. We cannot be doing everything but we can certainly support the men and women who have embraced the young cardiac patients. They are giving children a future of hope and showing the way to a kinder, more compassionate society.”
Also giving support is Kevin Tan, vice president of Megaworld. “We have always been committed to changing the Philippine landscape through our world-class township developments. But more than just landscapes, Megaworld wants to uplift the life of every Filipino, especially those of the most vulnerable. We celebrate Mother’s Day with both the mothers who have given us our lives, as well as those children whose lives we can save.”
