Mika Vainio & Denise De Los Santos: From college sweethearts to life partners after 9 1/2 years

-

MANILA, Philippines - After nine and a half years together, it came as no surprise to their families and friends that Mika Vainio and Denise de los Santos ended up at the altar last Oct. 29, 2011.

It all started with “love at first sight” for Mika, when he saw Denise on campus in De La Salle University. Being part of the UAAP men’s basketball team, Mika was confident, well connected and determined to get an introduction, which came thanks to the help of a common friend. Denise eventually went from being oblivious to UAAP and basketball to becoming Mika’s number one fan.

Throughout almost a decade together, Mika and Denise never wavered in their love, admiration and support for one another. They evolved from being college sweethearts to life partners who encouraged each other to grow, persevere and reach for their dreams. Mika is now a national sales manager for a multinational company, and Denise is a merchandising manager, handling a luxury brand for Stores Specialists, Inc. — a testament to how a supportive and selfless relationship can enable two people to reach their goals together.

Mika and Denise got married in St. John Bosco Parish Church in Makati, in a heartfelt ceremony filled with both laughter and tears as the couple exchanged personal vows in the presence of family, friends and esteemed principal sponsors. The celebration was made more special as the newlyweds were serenaded by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra.

Reception followed at One Esplanade, where cocktails were served as the guests enjoyed the view of the famous Manila Bay sunset. The wedding party then feasted on a lavish dinner catered by chefs Rolando and Jackie Laudico. It was an all-night celebration as guests were treated to free-flowing drinks and different kinds of entertainment to suit their style. Two bands, Techy Romantics and 3rd Avenue, played simultaneously in separate areas of the venue so guests could choose whether to chill out al fresco to soothing electronic-indie-pop rhythms, or dance the night away to all-time disco, pop and dance favorites.
