Nick's Christmas Toy Run makes kids happy
MANILA, Philippines - It was an early Christmas treat for the winners of the Nickelodeon Christmas Toy Run, which was done in partnership with Toy Kingdom. These two lucky kids each won a chance to grab P50,000 worth of toys, and an additional run for P25,000 each for the kids of SM Foundation.
On the morning of Dec. 8, seven year-old Joaquin Estacion and eight year-old Alexandra Raig, and their parents were at the SM Megamall branch of Toy Kingdom bright and early. Both sets of parents said the kids couldn’t sleep the night before from the excitement of getting the toys of their choice. They stormed the aisles and took advantage of the three-minute time limit. It was a mad dash to the finish, and they both grabbed cart loads of toys from remote control vehicles, robots, dolls, the latest toys, bikes and Nickelodeon items.
After resting a bit, Joaquin and Alexandra got ready for their additional toy run for the “Make A Child Happy: Share A Toy Campaign” of the SM Foundation. Because these toys were going to a good cause, each kid made sure to grab as much as they could, and was able to fill up more than 10 carts of toys. That same afternoon at the SM Megamall Event Center, Joaquin and Alex distributed the toys themselves to over 500 kids.
When both kids were asked how they felt after this busy day, Joaquin said “I’m tired, but, I’m really happy. I was able to get the toys I want. But, because it’s Christmas, I wanted to share my blessings with the kids of the “Share A Toy” project, so I made sure to get lots of toys for them.”
“It’s like a dream come true!” Alexandra said. “I’m also happy I was able to share with the kids of the SM Foundation. I wish them to be happy this Christmas and I hope they like the toys we gave them.”
Christmas was truly in the air! The spirit of sharing was seen and felt by everyone in that joyful afternoon, thanks to Joaquin, Alexandra, Toy Kingdom, SM Foundation and Nickelodeon.
