Carla Abellana falls for love stories

Carla Abellana is one of the few movie stars who has a college degree. Her mother made sure she finished her studies before allowing her to join the entertainment industry. She stars in an adult drama  Regal Films

My Neighbor’s Wife

.

I asked the talented Carla Abellana to discuss her favorite books.

These are five of her favorite books:

1. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks — I love history, romance and Nicholas Sparks. The combination of the three in this book makes it a classic feel-good love story about young, crazy love.

2. Marley & Me by John Grogan — My mom first read this book on-board an airplane on her way home from the United States. She then passed it on to me simply because we share the same passion for reading and dogs. This is hands-down the best book for dog-lovers like my mom and I.

3. Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert — Another book passed on to me by my mom, this is a favorite because it was one vital factor that got me through the early stages of joining show business. During my first few months as an actress I was anxious, pressured, stressed and terrified. This kept me calm and helped me sleep well through the night. It made me realize that there’s a lot more to life and that everything’s gonna be okay.

4. Diary of My Melancholy Whores by Gabriel Garcia-Marquez — Simply because I love Gabriel Garcia-Marquez and for me this is his best piece. 5. Love: Ten Poems by Pablo Neruda — It was my sister who first introduced me to Pablo Neruda in high school. Reading his works in college got me even more hooked. In my opinion he’s the best poet next to Shakespeare. Even Gabriel Garcia-Marquez thought so, too. This book was given to me by Geoff because he knows I love Pablo Neruda. Nobody can write poems about love as beautifully as he can.

All books are available at all National Book Store and Powerbooks branches.
