FCCP welcomes new president Nene Leonor

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) members recently elected its new officers headed by Nene Leonor as president. The new board of directors is composed of immediate past president Beth Cristobal, Mabel Abaño, Yolly Ayson, Lulu Castañeda, Nenuca Blardony, Karen Macasaet, Chloe Periquet, Tessie Rodrigo, Gilda Salonga, Minerva Tanseco, and Grace Tiongco.

FCCP was founded in 1979 to nurture and develop artistically talented young people through its scholarship and outreach programs pertaining to arts and culture.

Believing that membership is vital in pursuing the club’s objectives, Nene, Yolly and Karen wasted no time in organizing the first in a series of fellowship. A gathering among FCCP members was held at the farm of Karen in Lipa City, Batangas. Dr. Elenita Binay provided a coaster, which transported the members to the farm.

After parting of the lunch buffet of delicious Filipino dishes prepared by Karen, who also celebrated her birthday, members spent the afternoon singing old tunes and modern hits as well.

Lenny Gutierrez surprised everyone with her Elvis Presley-like rendition of Hound Dog, also Paul Anka’s Oh, Carol and Diana. TechieCristobal delighted everyone with her French songs; Evelyn Ranada with That’s What Friends Are For, while Tessie Amparo, Minda Imperial and Grace Tiongco sang modern and all-time Filipino favorites.

It was indeed an afternoon of camaraderie, fun, and music.
