Free calls for OFWs from Sun Cellular

-

MANILA, Philippines - Sun Cellular reaches out to the public, particularly the affected Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their loved ones in Libya, Bahrain, Yemen, and New Zealand.

In coordination with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Sun Cellular’s “Libreng Tawag” booths are stationed until March 15 at the OWWA Office and the Philippine Trade and Training Center, Pasay where Sun is providing free IDD calls to the relatives of affected OFWs and returning OFWs as well.

Marlon Bautista from Bacoor, Cavite was one of them as his wife Felmarie and daughter Miel are currently in Libya. “Salamat sa Libreng Tawag na ito. Dahil dito, nabilinan ko ang mag-anak ko na umuwi na agad,” Bautista said.

With the help of Sun Cellular, OFWs are also able to guide to safety their friends and families who are still in Libya. Take the case of Omar Morales, an OFW who just returned from Libya. Since his friends are still in Libya, he took the opportunity to call them for free and gave them encouraging words and advice. “Nagpapasalamat kami ng mga kumpare ko dito sa libreng tawag kasi napayuhan ko sila. Sabi ko pag kinuha ang mga gamit ninyo, ibigay niyo lang basta makauwi lang kayo,” Morales relayed.

Romeo Macaspac’s 29-Year-old daughter Victoria Isanan has been working in Bahrain for six months. When he learned that the tension in Libya was escalating and might spread to its nearby countries, he got concerned about the safety of his daughter. “Salamat sa libreng tawag dahil nalaman ko na ang kalagayan niya. At least ngayon nakatakas na daw siya at nasa Embassy na. Sana po makauwi na siya sa amin.”

“Sun also offers free local calls to OFWs who have returned to the country, so they could get in touch with their families,” said Bill Pamintuan, senior vice president for Digitel, Sun Cellular’s Mother Company.

Sun Cellular continues to provide affordable ways to keep OFWs and their families in touch 24/7 by offering the lowest mobile IDD calls — at only P2 per minute, free international texts through Sun’s call back service, prepaid roaming service and budget roaming text service, on top of its most affordable unlimited calls and texts plans.
