SMB Oktoberfest opens with light and sound show
MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel Brewery Inc. welcomed the world’s most popular beer festival with a concert extravaganza featuring the country’s top live acts and the first-ever 3D lights and sound show in the country.
The San Miguel Oktoberfest kickoff, held recently at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds, drew thousands of beer and music fans who caught live performances from The Dawn, Freestyle, Slapshock, Mayonnaise, and Sponge Cola, among others.
Using projection technology seen only in New York, Paris, London, Sydney, and Tokyo, SMB beamed 3D computer-generated visuals onto the building’s entire façade, transforming it into the country’s largest projection screen.
With a gargantuan video wall SMB lit the skies with a spell-binding, 15-minute fireworks show.
Keeping perfect time with the lights and fireworks show was the new San Miguel Oktoberfest jingle, which made its debut that night over a surround sound system designed especially for such a large sound space — another first in the country.
The result was a truly unique visual and aural extravaganza that also saw The Bloom Brothers, Gloc 9, the Mocha Girls and Kitty Girls, and dance groups The Manoeuvers and the Philippine All-Star Dancers, take to the stage.
Other celebrities present were SMB beauties Marian Rivera, Isabel Daza, Georgina Wilson and Sam Pinto. SMB’s athlete-endorsers Django Bustamante, Efren “Bata” Reyes, and the San Miguel Beermen PBA cagers were also present.
SMB president Roberto N. Huang led the ceremonial toast, together with Pasay local government officials and SMB endorsers.
Sustaining parties will be held at SM City Baguio; Embarcadero, Legaspi, and Boulevard Cluster, Dumaguete (Oct. 22); and at Limketkai in Cagayan de Oro and at Metrowalk in Pasig (Oct. 30).
SMB also launched its Oktoberfest “Tansankatutak” promo and the “Oktoberfest 9-Ball Billiards Open.” An estimated P1 million worth of cash prizes will be awarded.
