Showing the sweetest gratitude to second moms

-

MANILA, Philippines –  Who held your hand, helped you with homework or dried your tears during those times when your mom was too busy? It can be your lola, ate, tita or even your yaya — but one thing’s for sure: second mothers deserve our sweetest thank yous.

Toblerone, the well-loved triangular Swiss chocolate, made sure that second moms get the sweetness of gratitude with their Second Mother’s Day Promo. “Usually, it’s the moms or the dads that are celebrated for their efforts, that’s why this time we wanted to put the spotlight on these people  that are not often recognized for their roles as second moms,” shared Michelle Santillan, Chocolates brand manager for Kraft Foods Philippines.

During the promo, people from the Toblerone Facebook fanpage were asked to name and share their unique stories about their second mothers. The Top 10 best entries as judged by the Toblerone team enjoyed an exclusive chocolate bouquet designed by Michi Calica and a special dinner treat for them and their second mom.

Rolly Pega Nuñez, the only male winner of the promo, recounted how his father became his “tatay na, nanay pa.” Meanwhile, another winner Liz Gopez, shared why she’s so thankful for having her grandma whom she calls Mamay. “Mamay attended to our needs whenever our parents were not around,” said Liz. “There was even a time when she had to face a SWAT team just to protect one of her granddaughters.”

Other winners were Josephine Bonsol, Amy Tabunar, Jamie Tan, Merlinda Betorin, Christina Devecais, Yvonnie Bosabica, Helen R. Ramos and Erica Yub.
