MANILA, Philippines - This September, the Philippine edition of Town & Country marks its third year by releasing its first-ever Wonder Women issue. Editor-in-chief Yvette Fernandez explains, “Our Wonder Women issue honors accomplished women of style and substance who have excelled in their chosen fields.”
This year’s Wonder Women were recently honored at an afternoon tea party held last Sept. 14 at White Space. Recognized for their achievements in their respective fields were Margarita Fores, for entrepreneurship; Cheche Lazaro, for media; Bea Valdes, for fashion; and Lea Salonga, for music and theater.
The following women were similarly recognized but were unable to make it to the event: Carmen Guerrero Nakpil, for literature; Isabel Caro Wilson, for diplomacy and the arts; and Gina Lopez, for philanthropy and public service. Lopez also graces the cover of the September issue. Nakpil was represented by her daughter Lizza Nakpil, Wilson by her daughter Claudia Wilson Tambunting, and Lopez by her brother Ernie Lopez.
Of the photo shoot with this year’s Wonder Women, Fernandez says, “Our Wonder Women were professional yet gracious. They exuded strength, confidence, and passion, and at the same time were charming and down-to-earth.” Stories and anecdotes from the people closest to these women give life to their individual profiles. The September issue of Town & Country also features the annual Town & Country Luxury Survey.
The Town & Country Wonder Women event was co-presented by Citibank, with special thanks to Strait Wines.
