Steppin' in to help
MANILA, Philippines - Last year was a fruitful and exciting one for Crocs, Inc. as it launched fun and engaging activities under the theme “A Shoe for Every You.” Crocs’ success in the Philippines was made possible by its distributor All Condition Gear Philippines, Inc. (ACGPI), in promoting the new Crocs collections, and its efforts to give back to the community
Last year, Crocs held its first “Crocs Prepair to Run” fun run at the SM Mall of Asia to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Dedicated runners raised P50,000, benefiting WE International Philippines, Inc. (WEIP), a registered non-governmental organization raising awareness and finding sustainable ways to alleviate poverty in the country. The donation helped support its programs providing educational, medical, and economic sustainability to the children of Smokey Mountain.
Crocs and ACGPI stepped up to the challenge of helping the victims of Typhoon Ondoy by donating P2.3 million worth of Crocs shoes, distributed to the flooded areas in Pasig, Marikina, and Cainta, Rizal. The leading footwear designer, manufacturer, and retailer also gave away P1 Million worth of Crocs shoes to victims of Typhoon Pepeng in the affected areas of Pangasinan province.
As part of its continuing effort in corporate social responsibility, Crocs celebrated Christmas with children from Smokey Mountain, in cooperation with WEIP, at the Manila Ocean Park Oceanarium. The event offered the children a special and memorable marine life experience through a personal tour of the park, games, and shows that promote marine life restoration. “We were happy to have the opportunity to support WEIP and share our successes with these children. This event was memorable because we were personally able to provide an unforgettable and educational experience that would not have otherwise been available to these children and their families,” said Franco Limjuco, ACGPI vice president.
Abigail Sy, WEIP founder, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the organization to Crocs and ACGPI for continuously supporting their program by providing an exceptional educational and recreational experience to the children of Smokey Mountain.
“Our social responsibility initiatives were simple ways to share with the community the blessings we received in 2009. We will continue to support the community and those in need as much as we can for 2010 and for the years to come,” Franco added.
