Yes, you can surf in the city!

-

MANILA, Philippines - Ever wondered what it’s like to ride the perfect wave on a waxed surfboard? You don’t have to travel far south to the best natural surfing spots in the country: just head to OceanWaves in nearby Taytay, Rizal.

OceanWaves is the largest surf pool in the country and the major attraction of Club Manila East Resort, a water park and resort in Taytay, just 20 minutes by land from Ortigas Center.

Besides proximity, the main attraction is the safe and controlled environment that OceanWaves provides: it generates identical, perfectly shaped point-break waves every second, making it more consistent than any natural surfing destination. No more uncertain weather conditions, and its proximity makes OceanWaves the ideal location to have a fun and exciting surf competition and beach party.

Working with the Philippine Surfing Academy (PSA), the largest local surfing school, some 3,000 new surfers have been trained in the CME’s surf pools in the last two years — proof that surf pools are the ideal site for learning surfing basics, a principle that is being followed all over the world.

In fact, last Feb. 27, Club Manila East and Philippine Surfing Academy held its first surfing competition ever at OceanWaves. The event was specially intended for surfers at the beginner level, providing a welcome opportunity for newbie surfers — everyone from age seven to 70 — to enjoy and experience the fun and challenge of an actual surfing contest.

The unprecedented event was even more special because of the wide scope of the competitor divisions, comprised of Grommets (aged seven to 12), Juniors (13 to 17) and Adults (18 and above).

There were exciting surf demos by some of the most skilled local professional surfers, awarding ceremonies and an after-tilt party with live music from DJs. What better place to have an awesome beach luau than at the biggest and only beach in the city — OceanWaves at Club Manila East Taytay?
