MANILA, Philippines - Meralco fulfill s its mandate in reaching out to underprivileged children from its franchise areas, to bring cheer, hope, and light to their lives through the holiday outreach program called “A Delightful Christmas.” This year, about 500 children from nine welfare institutions who were affected by the recent typhoons were chosen as beneficiaries, following the theme “Abot tanaw, bituing tanglaw.”
About 60 kids, children of the Tahanang Walang Hagdan Inc. employees, visited the Lopez Building Lobby of the Meralco Compound in Ortigas Avenue which was dressed up like a Christmas Candy Village.
Meralco volunteers served as willing guardians to the young guests, playing with them, feeding them, taking their pictures and giving them gifts.
The children were amazed by Marvin, the Magician and danced with the Liwanag Patrol mascots led by Kiko Meralco.
The event’s Ninong, Martin Lopez, VP and head of the CIT Department of Meralco, unveiled the Meralco Christmas Village — a display of life-size figurines crafted from copper wires recreating the Nativity scene. The children took turns riding a motorized train that rolled around the grounds.
