The secret is out

-

MANILA, Philippines - In the latest issue of Wanderlust, the Philippines takes top spot as one of the top 10 places to visit in 2010.

“Where to Travel in 2010” is the cover story of the monthly magazine and the Philippines made it to the top of the 10 destinations.

The magazine’s theme this month is “A Year of Adventure 2010” and opens with Mark Stratton’s article on the Philippines. The 10-page piece gives a detailed account of the many places Stratton has visited and his adventures around the country.

Stratton’s trip was arranged in cooperation with Cathay Pacific Airways, Bamboo Travel and the Philippine Department of Tourism. Most of his inland journeys were made using public transport, from Banaue to Siquijor. His article features Manila, the Banaue Rice Terraces, the Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon, Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete, Siquijor and 12 aquatic adventures in the Philippines.

Other featured destinations in the magazine are Rio de Janeiro (February), Sweden (March), India (April), Syria (May), South Africa (June/July), Scotland (August), D.R. Congo (September), Mexico (October), The Gulf (November) and New Zealand (December).

“Asia’s best kept secret: 7,107 perfect islands, and barely a tourist in sight” is the kicker found on page one as a description of the country.

The magazine has a monthly distribution of 37,000 and a readership in the United Kingdom of 90,000. This special edition of Wanderlust will be available for two months — from Dec. 2009 to Jan. 2010.
