Fr. Joey Faller: Damaged hands, healing hands
MANILA, Philippines - It was one of the top stories of 2005. Actress Sandy Andolong, wife of actor Christopher de Leon, had been suffering from five various ailments, but was healed after Fr. Joey Faller prayed over her.
According to news reports, Sandy suffered depression after the end of her television series in 2003. One day, after vomiting bouts, she suffered dehydration and had to be confined in a hospital to undergo a series of tests. Doctors found abnormalities in her intestines, gall bladder, kidney, uterus and pituitary glands.
Since her husband and close friends were in the Charismatic Renewal Movement, she heard about Fr. Joey Faller. She went to the Grotto of Healing and Purification of the Kamay ni Hesus in Lucban, Quezon, to meet Fr. Faller for a prayer session. Fr. Faller prayed over her and, like most persons who are prayed over, Sandy briefly lost consciousness — what we refer to as being “slain” in the Holy Spirit. Shortly after, Sandy went back to her doctors for another series of tests. The results showed all organs, previously diagnosed with ailments, were normal!
Sandy’s healing is just one of the many miracles witnessed during the “Healing Masses” celebrated by Fr. Joey Faller, now one of the world’s most sought-after healing priests.
Born in Lucban, Quezon on June 19, 1964, Joseph Ayala Faller was ordained priest at St. Ferdinand Cathedral in Lucena City on Sept. 9, 1989. His academic preparation for the priesthood is impressive. He studied at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seminary, Sariaya, Quezon in 1980, then at the St. Francis De Sales, Lipa City, where he graduated cum laude, finishing his revalida summa cum laude. In 1988, he graduated magna cum laude from the St. Alphonsus Regional Seminary in Lucena City, acing his comprehensive exam cum laude.
From 1989 to 1996, Fr. Joey served as professor and spiritual director of the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Seminary. He later served as assistant parish priest of St. Ferdinand Cathedral, and chaplain of the Holy Rosary School.
The spiritual director of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Lucena, Fr. Joey serves as chairman of the board of the National Service Committee of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Philippines.
Fr. Joey devoted his life to serving God amid a series of trials in his family. His sister Stella died in 1986, followed by his father Francisco in 1988, and his beloved mother Adelaida in 1989.
Undaunted, Fr. Joey ministered to his parishioners, especially the sick, and not a few claimed to be healed after he prayed over them.
On Jan. 19, 1993, he prayed over a paralyzed woman in a wheelchair; to everyone’s amazement, the woman stood up and walked.
At another Healing Mass, Fr. Joey envisioned a woman wearing a red dress suffering from cancer. He declared the woman healed in the name of Jesus. After the Mass, a woman wearing a red blouse came forward, saying she had cancer. She received the Sacrament of Confession and after Fr. Joey prayed over her, she was instantly healed.
Even though some, including his superiors in the Catholic Church, had declared that God has given Fr. Joey the gift of healing, he did not embrace the ministry until after an incident on April 8, 1994. On this day, he had an accident that damaged the small finger and index finger of his right hand. He underwent surgery to straighten his fingers, to no avail.
Fr. Joey noticed that his right hand with the curled fingers resembled the hands of the Little Jesus — known as El Señor Sto. Niño — and of the hands of the risen and victorious Christ. Fr. Joey had a revelation: he saw that, with his damaged hand, he couldn’t possibly be the one doing all the healing attributed to him. What he had known all along was confirmed: it is God, not he, that heals. He was simply God’s instrument of His healing power!
With this epiphany, Fr. Joey became comfortable with the precious gift God have given him and he began to pursue his ministry with passion. He formed the Kamay Ni Hesus Ministry Foundation to raise funds for the construction of a healing center, church and renewal center for the Diocese of Lucena. He now travels around the world extending God’s healing grace to thousands.
Through Fr. Joey, God healed many during the Kerygma Conference 2007, held at the PhilSports Arena (formerly ULTRA).
Fr. Joey is one of the renowned healers who will preside over the Healing Services in Kerygma Conference 2009. While Bro. Bob Canton leads the Kerygma Conference 2009 Healing Service at the Araneta Coliseum this Nov. 29, Fr. Joey Faller will lead the Healing Service at the Cebu International Convention Center, Cebu City, also on Nov. 29, 2009.
