Swatch celebrates the Ateneo Sesquicentennial, raises one million pesos for Ateneo scholars

- Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski -

MANILA, Philippines - It was a happy surprise when I found out that there was going to be an Ateneo Sesquicentennial Swatch.
The idea was brought to Swatch by my alma mater with a design by an Atenean to celebrate 150 years of the Ateneo in true “Man for Others” fashion.

Currently P1 million, the proceeds from the sales of this watch, which has become the number one memorabilia from the sesquicentennial celebration, will be used for deserving scholars who we hope will one day make their own significant contributions to society armed with their Ateneo education.

As if that wasn’t enough reason to get one, the design is sure to bring alumni like myself back to those good old days in the quad (“Who, who is she?” during my freshman year), Study Hall, and memories of crossing the Bel Field (in my crutches) among others.

In this day and age, what piece of memorabilia could be better than one that doesn’t just allow us to reminisce, but is also useful, dependable and stylish? Spoken like a true Swatch Lady, right?

For today’s Ateneans who still worry about deadlines and finals, wear it with pride and let it be a reminder of what we expect from you now and in the future.

The Ateneo Sesquicentennial limited-edition Swatch is now available at the Ateneo Office of University Development and Alumni Relations.
