To pump up the morale of its most valued “Ironmen,” Timex gathered them for a special send-off celebration last July 13 at the Forbes Park Pavilion in Makati City.
Welcoming the Timex-empowered teams and athletes were Monster Radio RX 93.1’s DJ Gino Quillamor and multiple national triathlon champion Ani de Leon who shared exciting bits on the upcoming triathlon event. Bob Mirani, chairman of the Mirani Group of Companies, emphasized the brand’s belief in the innate dexterity of the primed athletes it has chosen to carry the brand’s flag to the finish line.
Newtrends International Corporation general manager Murli Menon said Timex Ironman Triathlon is the most fitting heavy-duty partner for its prized teams.
The Timex Ironman Triathlon teams’ heart-pumping experiences and dedication to their athletic passions were depicted in an audio-visual presentation. They are Rio dela Cruz for the Timex Run Rio Team, Roy Hervias along with team manager Mang Mar Alotaya for the Timex TMM Team, and Lara Parpan, Women’s Health magazine editor-in-chief, for the Timex Women’s Health Team.
Joining the teams were other Timex athletes: premiere sportsman representing the Polo Tri Club, David Charlton, tri-athlete Leica Carpo, seven-time RP Team member and Triathlon Silver Medalist in the 1994 Asian Championship Nonoy Jopson as well as the country’s representative in Season 2 of The Amazing Race Asia, also a Timex endorser Marc Nelson.
Murli Menon said that for the upcoming event, P50,000 will be awarded to the best performing Timex team and another P30,000 to the best individual time performance.
Hailing him as the real Ironman of all the Ironmen, Marc Nelson offered a toast to Menon who is responsible for making Timex what it is in the country today and who will soon be heading off to fulfill greater responsibilities for the brand in India.
