Glorietta 5: The new hub for fashion, dining and entertainment

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Malls’ recently opened Glorietta 5 showcases pure convenience and accessibility all in one mixed-use development. This time around, three personalities tell us their tales of the delectable finds they experienced at their favorite restaurants.

Menchu Antigua

TV host and radio DJ Menchu Antigua recently discovered Glorietta 5 and was happy about the relocated restaurants such as Gerry’s Grill and Yellow Cab. As one of her favorites, Gerry’s Grill caters to her craving for Filipino cuisine. Menchu shares, “I normally gravitate towards Filipino cuisine, most especially Gerry’s Grill, because of the appetizing dishes I find here.” She finds inihaw na pusit, crispy pata and sizzling pork sisig most appetizing and satisfying.

Menchu also loves the New York-style pizza of Yellow Cab. The quick-service and casual restaurant serves the best and freshest ingredients. Her faves include the four seasons, calzone grande, strawberry and pistachio-flavored ice cream and chips & dip.

Glorietta 5’s wide array of restaurants and relaxing interiors particularly appeal to Mench. “I find the ambience of Glorietta 5 very soothing. The minute I step into Glorietta 5, it is refreshing to dine al fresco and enjoy the sunny day and nice breeze. It’s a good dining experience overall.”

Lexi Schulze

Model, writer, and TV host Lexi Schulze shares her passion for food as she tries the dining destinations at Glorietta 5. Lexi enjoys the calm and breezy ambience. She notes, “There’s a lot of space to walk around. The structure of Glorietta 5 is not cluttered.”

Lexi has a penchant for Filipino and Italian cuisines, and she was pleased to find Mangan, Giligan’s Island and Sbarro in Glorietta 5. Filipino restaurant Mangan provides fast and authentic Kapampangan cuisine. “I always go back to Filipino food, specifically at Mangan.” She recommends pinakbet, fiesta inihaw, kare-kare, pancit luglug, bibingka and puto bumbong.

Giligan’s Island bar and restaurant takes everyone offshore for a unique dining experience. A food connoisseur, Lexi savors the sizzling hot dishes, vegan meals, and flavorful burgers available here. Other mouth-watering treats include sizzling mixed seafood, vegetable pizza, caesar’s salad, and fried garlic chicken.

Lexi also loves Sbarro’s Italian offerings. A few of Sbarro’s specialties include the Supreme Pizza comprised of its signature pizza sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, Italian sausage, peppers, and mushrooms, the baked zitti pasta dish, and garden fresh salad.

Rich Herrera

Rich Herrera, host of the show Chill Spot, is a certified foodie. His seasoned palate for different cuisines is measured by his frequent travels from the US to several Asian countries. Rich recently discovered great dishes found at Glorietta 5 restaurants, such as Mongkok, Sizzlin’ Pepper Steak and Guilly’s.

Chancing upon the Chinese dimsum and noodles restaurant Mongkok made his dining experience memorable. His newfound favorites include seafood fried noodles, shrimp broccoli, and sweet and sour fish.

The Western-Japanese restaurant Sizzlin’ Pepper Steak makes for a more distinguishable kind of dish presentation. The beef pepper rice, seafood pepper rice, and salad Hamburg are some of its bestsellers. Rich notes, “The presentation is really great with the way they serve the sizzling hot plate [beef pepper rice] with half-cooked meat that made us wait for a couple of minutes before it was finally cooked.”

Guilly’s bar and restaurant is what Rich looks for when it comes to dining at night with friends. Quality Filipino dishes are some of his criteria for a perfect casual restaurant and Guilly’s certainly delivers that. He loves the all-in-one platter Anchor’s Aweigh, a dish consisting of sinigang na salmon head, boneless crispy pata, chicken strips with teriyaki sauce, steamed tilapia fillet and beef broccoli.

As a fan of the old Glorietta, Rich finds the new space of Glorietta 5 better. He shares, “The location is very strategically placed, catching the different tastes of nearby hotel residents and frequent shoppers and diners.”

Other delightful dining establishments opening soon in Glorietta 5 are Luk Yuen, North Park, Tokyo Tokyo, Chowking, Spaghetti Factory, Chef D’Angelo, The Soup Kitchen, and HealthFoods.

Glorietta 5 indeed attracts and captivates the different palates of loyal patrons and food aficionados with top-notch dining destinations.
