SOS Children's Village stages musical
The heart of the holidays lies in sharing the joys of giving. Christmastime is a period to be jolly in a whole lot of ways, but mostly to be thankful for a blessed year.
Starbucks Coffee celebrates this spirit with those who have been giving the whole year as it brings cheer to organizations and medical facilities who care for the well being of children, the ill and the community. Starbucks Holiday Angels rounds are devoted to visiting doctors, nurses, patients; police stations, nursing homes and learning institutions to sample complimentary Starbucks beverages and food. Holiday Angels is an activity led by Starbucks Coffee store partners to pass the Christmas cheer and say thank you to the community.
Last Dec. 15, Starbucks went to Alabang Town Center to celebrate with SOS Children’s Village as the kids staged SOS HiSkool Musicale.
SOS Philippines was established 41 years ago. It provides long-term family-based care and education for orphaned, abandoned and neglected children and children in extreme difficult circumstances. Its commitment is focused on the wellness and welfare of these children, providing them care, food, shelter, clothes and even education until the tertiary level.
SOS Philippines gives them the most basic necessity — family. SOS Philippines is not an orphanage, but the last resort for kids who have nowhere to go home to. The organization believes that every child deserves a loving family and prepares him to become a happy and productive part of society in the future.
The SOS Philippines concept, like its counterparts around the world, follows the Four Guiding Principle as its pillars. It provides the children with what they once lost—a mother who gives unconditional love, eight to 12 brothers and sisters of various ages to grow up with, be they actual siblings or not, a home to belong to, and a village with eight to 14 houses to bridge them to the outside world.
