Fortune Aleta Ledesma, the honorary consul of Monaco to the Republic of the Philippines, was appointed Chevalier (Knight) of the Order of Saint Charles by HSH Sovereign Prince Albert II during the National Day of Monaco ceremonies held recently. She is the first Filipino to receive this honor. The Order of Saint Charles, created by Prince Charles III on March 15, 1858, is given by the Sovereign Prince of Monaco to reward service rendered to him or to the state. The Order of Saint Charles is the equivalent of the French “Legion d’Honneur” and is the highest and most prestigious distinction given by the Monagesque government.
