The Johann Strauss Society of the Philippines pays tribute to Italian composer Giacomo Puccini
The Johann Strauss Society of the Philippines (JSSP), in partnership with the Italian Embassy, presents “Piazza Puccini,” a gala concert on Nov. 28 at the ballroom of Mandrin Oriental Manila, Makati City.
The concert is a tribute to renowned Italian composer Giacomo Puccini on his 150th anniversary.
With the Piazza Pantheon as a backdrop, the concert features select arias from some of Puccini’s best operas to be performed by Italian soprano Anna Carnovali, tenor Franco Becconi and soprano Rachelle Gerodias.
Ernest Hoetzl of Austria is the guest conductor of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO).
Supported by Mandarin Oriental Manila, Swiss International Airlines, the Cultural Center of the Philippines, and CrewTech Shipmanagement Phils., the event caps a weeklong Settimana della Lingua Italiana celebration organized by the Italian Embassy.
