Moms learn digital arts

Adventurous and fun-loving moms are discovering that there is another way to harness their creativity, spend more quality time with the family, and even earn a living — and that’s through digital arts.

Clarissa, 45, a stay-home mother of two, is living proof that digital arts can spice up one’s life.

“My whole family is set to migrate to Canada,” she said. “To make us more marketable, we all decided to enroll at First Academy. It was one of the best investments we have ever made. Armed with the right skills, there are more opportunities for us now.”

Clarissa is just one of hundreds of parents who have proven the value of an integrated digital arts course.

Fifty-something Malou is a US-based businesswoman who frequents the Philippines on business. When her son accompanied her on one of her business trips, he saw an advertisement for First Academy and asked that he be enrolled in the multimedia arts workshop. The son enjoyed the course and will soon return to take the wonderful 3D animation class.

“First Academy pushed him into the arts, a side of him that I never knew he had. He has even taught me some of the things he learned during our free time,” Malou says.

Then there’s Rachel whose son wanted a Fine Arts degree. Knowing fully well that the competition in the traditional arts is stiff, Rachel encouraged her son to enroll at First Academy. The youngster took up the comprehensive digital arts program and afterwards, immediately got himself a job as a graphic artist. After eight months, the son saved enough money to pay for the rest of his college education.

“The results were almost instantaneous. There used to be time when you couldn’t get a job without a diploma. Not anymore in this digital age,” Rachel notes.

First Academy of Computer Arts marketing manager Ciel Luy says the digital age has indeed changed the way we see things. It has also opened doors for artists in a way that was not possible even 10 years back.

“Even parents have opened their eyes to the reality that four-year courses do not necessarily translate to work opportunities or flourishing careers,” Luy adds.

First Academy has specialized courses on multimedia arts, 2D and 3D animation, web development, digital photography and digital storytelling and film-making. It has an impressive roster of graduates, who have since established themselves in the worlds of film, advertising and computer gaming.

With flexible course schedules, a student-teacher ratio of 8:1, and the most state-of-the-art equipment, First Academy is undoubtedly the center of choice for emerging and established digital artists.

The preferred six-month digital arts program trains students to master skills in print arts and various multimedia arts program while the digital filmmaking training program covers everything the independent filmmaker needs to know in creating a feature-length film from pre-production to post-production.

Time and again, First Academy has proven that no matter the lack of computer aptitude, the center can help transform digital arts enthusiasts into seasoned professionals with the right attitude and a passion for learning.
