Discovering Alexa's best-kept secret
Good food, hip music, free WiFi. What’s not to love?
Frequented by office workers on weekdays, Alexa’s becomes a refuge for village residents at night. Their bar chow, deli sandwiches and pastas are solid, the salads adequate. But I wouldn’t recommend their soups as they tend to be watery.
The dessert selection alone is worth a visit.
Grab a slice of their cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, cookies from Dean & Deluca or a slice of their own Ebony and Ivory — a rich chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting.
Alexa’s deli section includes basic cheeses, choice coffees and teas, as well as a decent selection of affordable New World wines. The atmosphere is relaxed and populated by young urbanites: singles working on their laptops, couples for dinner, and small groups sharing bottles of wine.
The music is also worth mentioning — an eclectic mix of standards, house and world music with the odd aria that contributes to the charm of the place.
Servings are good for one, wine available by the glass and expect to spend 250 to 500 per person. Did I mention the free all-day WiFi? Alexa’s Deli and Restaurant Ground Floor, Classica 1 Condominium, HV Dela Costa St. Salcedo Village, Makati. Open daily, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Foodie Ria V works in IT consulting and participates in triathlons.
