I Love Gibson Girl
If collections are indications of a designer’s state of mind, then Marc Jacobs must be in a good place right now. His most recent showing for Marc Jacobs has to be one of his most stunning collections in recent history.
We call it Aunt Jemima-meets-Gibson Girl.
Jacobs was obviously inspired by old Southern Americana with the worker checks and apron silhouettes mixed with porkpie hats and marmish looks.
Add a dash of glamour with upturned shoulder pads and layers of rich Eastern fabrics in metallic foil. The result is a kind of magic only Marc Jacobs knows how to spin.
These days it’s easy to review collections from one’s laptop. Marc Jacobs’ full fashion shows were uploaded on his website soon after they were shown in New York.
We loved the Gershwin classic tunes and dramatic hall of mirrors on the ramp. From where we were sitting (right in the comfort of home and pajamas) you could say we had one of the best seats in the house.
