Most of us pray to the Lord every day, several times a day in fact. We thank Him silently when something good happens, we ask for strength when we’re faced with a tough situation, and we tell Him our deepest and darkest fears and secrets. If we were to come face to face with Him, would we be able to articulate our innermost thoughts?
CIARA SOTTO, actress: He knows what I’m going to say even before I speak. I’d probably cry, get down on my knees, ask for forgiveness, and thank Him for letting me see Him and for giving up His life for me. I’d tell Him that if my life were over, I would want to be in His kingdom, but if He still had a mission for me to accomplish, I would want to know exactly what it was.
VALERIE MAYOR SOTTO, model: I would praise Him for all the wonderful things He created in this world and thank Him for my life, my family and friends and for the happiness I feel every day. I would ask Him to continue to watch over my family and keep them safe and healthy. Then I would bow before Him and ask for His blessing that I may become an instrument of His love and help those who are in need.
RIA TANJUATCO TRILLO, newscaster: I would first have to say “thank You” for all the blessings in my life — a solid family, two gorgeous kids who give my husband and me tremendous joy, good health and a life that is more comfortable than I often acknowledge. Then I would ask for help — to see others with mercy rather than judgment and to give without thinking of what I would get in return.
SAVANNAH LUMEN, singer: I hope that there would be nothing to say out loud. The Lord can, after all, look into your heart.
GABBIE ANONAS, student: “Thank You for all the things you have done for me. Thank You for my friends and my family. Thank You for all the blessings I have received in my life. Thank You for keeping me safe. And above all, thank You for all the things You have done for my family, friends and for me.”
RAMONA DIAZ, filmmaker: Uh, “Time out”?
Deputy Speaker RAUL V. DEL MAR, 1st District of Cebu City: Thank you, Lord, for all Your blessings!!
CARINA GUEVARRA, businessperson: I try to see Him every day, everywhere, although I struggle to see Him in everyone. But if I ever do get to meet Him face to face, I would be awed into silence, followed by complete blubbering. “Thank You so much for my wonderful family, amazing friends, colorful life, and all the beauty this world has to offer. What does heaven look like? Is there really a hell? Why did You make the most beautiful flowers scentless? What does life mean? Are there life forms on other planets? Why do we hurt each other so much? Why can’t I fly? Do You ever get tired?”
Immigration Commissioner MARCELO LIBANAN: “Thanks for everything: the gift of life, wisdom and music.”
