A family of readers

This weekend, I asked the Alejandro family Dad Hajji and his kids, Ali, drummer for the band Mojofly, young chef Barni who is behind Sexy Chef South Beach Catering Service, and singer/actress Rachel to share with us their favorite books so that we can get a glimpse of the variety of books this family enjoys. Each member of the Alejandro family has different a taste when it comes to the kind of books they read.
1984 by George Orwell
A futuristic book for its time. You get sucked right into it after picking it up for the first time.
JOHNNY HOMICIDAL MANIAC by Johan Vasquez
A graphic novel that makes Ren and Stimpy and Beavis and Butthead writers fit for childrens books. Very gory and funny at the same time. All of this in just one book.
(Those interested in Barneys diet meals should call The Sexy Chef at 0917-7992433.)
QUEEN OF THE DAMNED by Anne Rice
A bloody and sensual novel. I love how it gives a very unique and interesting history on how vampires came to be.
Susan Powters cookbooks
The recipes are low in fat but high in flavor. You will never believe that youre eating healthy food.
THE DA VINCI CODE by Dan Brown
This book is so intriguing and informative! Reading the story is like watching an action packed movie.
HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE by J. K. Rowling
My fave of all Harry Potter books. It reminds me of bedtime stories about magic that my Dad would make up on the spot when we were little.
SHINE by Larry Thompson
A book about how to be a star in anything you do. It made me dress up like a star for two weeks straight.
LONELY PLANET PHILIPPINES
A must for every travel buff. My friends and I read it often when we are looking for new places to discover, mostly never heard of before islands, in our own country.
The LEFT BEHIND series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins
I like the series because it paints a clear picture of what could happen in the end days. Ive always been intrigued by the Book of Revelations and the said series is the closest thing to making me understand the contents of the Revelations.
The Reading Club recommends French Women Dont Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure. The book is available at National Book Store and Powerbooks. Oprahs anniversary issue has a special book enclosed. Subscription is available from Emerald Headway.
