Comptoir Sud Pacifique: Delicious memories
September 12, 2004 | 12:00am
Nicole Kidman, Britney Spears, and Britney Murphy love it in Vanilla Abricot. Claudia Schiffer goes for OPomelo. Denise Richards just has to have it in Aloha Tiare while for Cher, its Vanilla or nothing.
No, we arent talking about the latest delicious fruit shakes Hollywood stars crave for. Were talking about Comptoir Sud Pacifique.
In 2002, seasoned globetrotters William Millet (ex Chanel) and Benoit Rouquayrol de Boisse (ex Givenchy) took over this perfume line. They reinvented Comptoir Sud Pacifique by launching Eaux de Voyage which offers women "the quintessence of travel."
They say the nose never forgets. It can summon up a sensation from the past, triggering a flood of memories and emotions. "An olfactory memory never comes back all alone," insists Andre Holley, a neuroscientist who mentions this case history in his book on the sense of smell, Eloge de LOdorat. "Its always accompanied by images, atmospheres, and above all emotions." Some end up so charged with associations they become downright nostalgic.
When I first got a whiff of Comptoir Sud Pacifiques Vanille Passion at Rustans Essenses, I was instantly reminded of my childhood. At first, I couldnt understand why. Despite my sweet tooth, vanilla ice cream certainly was not one of my favorites! Walking around the house while continuing to sniff this new fragrance on my wrist, it was funny how I suddenly ended up in our kitchen. Then I remembered. Aaah yes, I spent my grade school summers baking in the kitchen almost every afternoon.
Every fragrance in Comptoir Sud Pacifiques latest line tells a story. Whats yours? Lets hear stories from the PMAP (Professional Models Association of the Philippines) members.
Rachel Soriano: Couer de Vahine candle
Ive never been a fan of scented candles and I find them useful only to fight bad odor around the house or in case of a brownout. But recently I tried Sud Pacifiques Coeur de Vahine and I love its clean feeling. It brings to mind romantic moments spent in paradise. It will come in handy while lounging on the couch with someone special, silently praying for a brownout!
Isabel Roces: Bois de Filao candle
I have always been fond of scented candles; all the more now that I moved to a new apartment. After my daily yoga regimen, I like to cool down by relaxing and lighting a scented candle. I particularly like Sud Pacifiques Bois de Filao. Its a mixture of sandalwood and vanilla. Its energizing and rejuvenating. The scent is faint but aromatic, it reminds me of designer perfumes.
Nicolette Bell: Bois de Filao
I really prefer unisex scents. I love their refreshing fragrance. Thats the reason why I picked Bois de Filao. Its a creation inspired by the woods, making me feel like Im in a forest within the city. So whenever I feel stressed, I just wear it and I am reminded of Baguio! Smells like vacation.
Marilen Faustino: Vanilla Abricot
I find Sun Pacifique in Vanilla Abricot very interesting because you seldom get this combination in a scent. The twist that comes from the fusion of vanilla and apricot makes it a scent that can be worn night or day. It reminds me of the health shake I drink for breakfast thats vanilla peach flavor!
Bubbles Paraiso: Amour de Cacao
I usually prefer fresh scents so I instantly fell in love with this scent because of its chocolatey vanilla aroma. It actually makes me hungry AND miss Boracay. I guess it really reminds me of having milkshakes in Bora. I love, love, love Amour de Cacao!
Eazel Don: Mora Bella
The fragrance has light sweet tones, reminding me of a mixture of fruits. It leaves me with a feeling of freshness and thinking of the beach. Its like a summer evening after having taken a long shower, enjoying a cold refreshing beverage.
Joanna Penaloza: O Pomelo
Its intense aromas leave a very refreshing scent reminiscent of my young, summer days at the beach eating dalandan with my mom and sisters. There is also a hint of a cool, powdery freshness. Much like the ones babies have when theyve just been given a bath!
Angel Agustin: Coeur de Vahine
I wear fruity scent perfumes because these make me feel always young and vibrant. When I first tried using this new fragrance from Rustans Essenses in school, everybody noticed it and some asked for its name. This new scent is really cool.
