How do you keep the blues away on a rainy day?

In the ‘70s the rains were sure to bring about a gloomy day. That’s no longer true today. There are so many things we can do indoors that can assure us of a happy day rain or shine. I know that it might sound selfish, but there are times when I am happy that classes are called off because of the rains because I can stay home and spend time with my three kids. The rainy days are back, let’s not allow the dark skies bring us down. Let’s keep busy or take time out to relax!

Lynn D. Agustin,
Bayo owner: Music can definitely chase the blues away for me. Music – anything from Beyonce to uplifting songs like Rainbow of South Border. If I’m staying home, then a good exciting book will do with a nice hot cup of coffee.

Tony Lambino,
singer: I enjoy overcast skies. Aside from the cooler temperatures, I take time out to appreciate family and friends, as well as reestablish priorities. But when it rains too much, I pray for the people whose lives are made especially difficult by the floods.

Ria Romero,
PR Joey 92.3, columnist, Lifestyle Asia: I’m a bit extreme. I will either hang out with my sister Ina and play with my nephews Pascal and Sebastien, chill out to the groovy CD made by my friend Jed Dario while having a home massage and manicure treatment or go on a white water rafting weekend in Cagayan Valley, typhoon and all!

Louie B. Locsin,
woman of style: Cuddle, snuggle and play footsies with my sweetie while I watch sheets of rain turn our window gray... and sweetie watches Kill Bill 2.

Gloria Mara,
PR practitioner, actress: Snuggle in bed with a good book and classical music faintly playing in the background. I also have my favorite chips and drink. Great di bala?

Romina Urra-Gonzalez,
senior associate editor, Metro magazine: I actually like rainy days, but if I have the blues I give myself a good cry to release my frustrations. Then I binge on scoops and scoops of ice cream to clear my mind and cool down.

Rikki Dee,
restaurateur: I take time off and go restaurant hopping. The experience of going around town no matter how far it takes me is worth it. It’s a guaranteed stress buster.

Corcor D. Bitong,
Bayo owner: On a rainy day, I like to stay home, snuggle on my couch, read a nice book and munch on my favorite potato chips with a yummy dip.

Criselda Lontok,
fashion designer: I try to think of pleasant things to talk about with my close friends or go watch a movie with them or with my family. I believe that one should not allow problems to dampen our lives or else we will suffer the consequences of having unwanted lines on our face.

Former Senator Loren Legarda: I keep the blues away by knowing that the rains will nurture the millions of trees I’ve planted in the Luntian Pilipinas program.

Dr. Vicki Bello,
cosmetic surgeon: This is my favorite kind of weather – bed weather. A perfect time to cuddle or curl up in bed with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate. Anything chocolate releases serotonin, the feel-good hormone.
