What would you like to see after the elections?

Finally, the elections are over but from the looks of it the counting of votes is still far from over. The sooner the canvassing of votes is over and the rightful winners are proclaimed, the sooner we can get on with our lives. We have been preoccupied with the electoral process for the last three months. We casted our votes on May 10 in the hope that we would elect leaders who would make our lives better. I trust that God will not abandon us and that He will guide the leaders we have elected. After all, we Filipinos are a hopeful and prayerful people and these are the qualities that make us survive any situation we are faced with.

EJ LITTON, businessman: A brighter future for our children through education, economic progress and political stability.

JM RODRIGUEZ , actor: I would like to see the opposition and administration united for the good of the country.

AKIKO THOMSON, athlete and TV host: That we can forego rallying and move on and do what needs to be done for our country.

TOTI WONG, assistant production manager, Adidas: I look forward to a sportsman- like attitude from all losing camps. And hopefully, a steady rise in the demand for athlete/lifestyle footwear…and more parties!

CORCOR BITONG, owner, Bayo: A new beginning for our country. I look forward to a government that will help entrepreneurs like myself so we can grow and provide jobs for more people.

TESS VILLANUEVA, pet stylist and dog groomer: I hope that those elected into office prove worthy of the position they were elected into and that they fulfill the responsibility vested on them. I hope that as public servants they will perform their duties with integrity and selflessness and not abuse their power.

MIKE PLANAS, congressional candidate, 3rd District Quezon City: For the Comelec in particular to be enlightened by the truth especially in the case I have pending with it. That it acts with impartiality when they resolve my case, so as not to set a wrong precedent.

For my opponent, Mat Defensor, father of Mike Defensor, presidential campaign spokeperson and HUDCC chairman who was not a candidate ab initio, to realize his mistake in making a mockery of the electoral exercise and to accept that no one is above the law no matter how close he is to the administration.

VICKY MONTENEGRO, editor in chief of Chalk Magazine: I want to see the wining candidates start to work for the good of the country immediately. I’m looking forward to the fulfillment of the promises they made…let’s see.
