What’s the first page you read in the newspaper?

Whether we like it or not there is no escaping reading the newspaper. The newspaper is, after all, one of the best sources of information. I make it a point to read the newspaper while I eat breakfast since I always want to be on top of what’s happening in the country and around the world as well. Read on to find out what section is the most important to the people I asked this week.

BRAD GEISER, managing director, Geiser Maclang PR and Market Research (GMCI PR)
: My favorite section of the newspaper is the comics section because when I am not working, I don’t want to be thinking.

NANCY ORTIGA, president, Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines:
I only take a glimpse at the front page headlines and then I look for the sports page. I diligently read through all the articles on golf. After exhausting them I read the lifestyle section. I return to the headline section and if I have enough time I read the rest of the paper.

ANNIE BENITEZ, homemaker
: Front page. It’s where I get all the important news both local and international.

JOHNNY DELGADO, director/actor
: I scan the headlines and then I go directly to the editorial page. I want to be able to gauge how the columnists’ opinions compare with mine.

RYAN CAYABYAB, composer
: The first thing I do when I wake up and before I eat breakfast is to read the papers. I spend time reading what significant events are happening. I relax by reading the lifestyle and entertainment sections.

FORTUNE SANTOS, member, Professional Models Association of Philippines
: The lifestyle section because it keeps me updated on the current fashion trends. But then I’m glad that I get to read features that go deeper than just fashion and beauty stuff.

JUDE HIPOLITO, creative director for Pantene:
I read the lifestyle and fashion sections first to keep me abreast of what’s going on in my industry.

ANNA MARIE PERIQUET
, president, Anna Marie Home Collection Inc./Aurelio Periquet Jr. Foundation: The first section of the newspaper I read every morning is the front page, particularly the headline stories. However, if the headline story does not capture my interest, I read the business section first.

REENA FRANCISCO, managing director, Store Super Global Café
: I read the lifestyle section to know the latest trends, products, restaurants and to find out what’s hot and what’s not. I also read the front page to get a snapshot of what’s happening in the country and around the world.

AISA G. YAP, external relations manager, Procter and Gamble:
By habit, I skim through the headlines first then go on to read the more interesting lifestyle pages – to find out where people are going and what they are doing, thinking, reading, watching, and wearing.

NICK CELDRAN, general manager, Tagaytay Highlands Golf and Country Club:
Lifestyle section, to keep me abreast of the goings-on in the leisure industry.

AMOR MACLANG
, director for communications, GMCI PR: My favorite section of the newspaper is the food and lifestyle sections. My husband and I are always on the prowl for the latest food haunts around the Philippines.

BOBBY CAPCO, publisher, Journal Group
: I read the front page first. I do this because it is part of my job to find out what’s happening around the country.
