Its always nice to receive heartwarming text messages. They never fail to make my day. Im sure readers will agree that text messaging is really one of the great inventions of our times. It has changed the way we live, the way we communicate, and more importantly, the way we show our love to the people close to our hearts.
Former Manila Representative Amado Bagatsing: Friends are like buttons in an elevator; some take you up, others bring you down. And the true friends we find are those who get us to the right floor.
Liza Ilarde, beauty and fashion editor, Mega magazine: In the middle of a hectic workday, when Im running around like a headless chicken, I love hearing from my sister Lara who lives in Madrid. Getting text messages about her day is kind of a respite for me. One of my favorites: "Hi ate, just dropped off Alba (her two-year-old) at preskul. Havin brkfast now w/ Ines (her six-month-old) at café. Wat r ur plans 4 d wkend?" Well, breakfast with Ines at a café sounds perfect right about now!
Helen Sotto, actress: God said, "Build a better world." I said, "How? The world is such a complicated, cold and dark place and theres nothing I can do!" And God said, "Just build a better you."
Former Tourism Undersecretary Ram Antonio: The best text message is "WRU" from my sons and my wife Judy.
Brad Turvey, print and commercial model: Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while were here we might as well dance!
Marilou Arroyo, businesswoman: In prayer, ask for wisdom, not just answers. Seek a brave heart, not just quick help. Desire endurance, not instant solutions. Gods blessings be upon you today!
Robbie Puno, chief operating officer of Cabalen Restaurants: You know a TV commercial is a hit when a text joke is made about it shortly after it first airs. These two are my current favorites, both inspired by McDonalds:
The first one says, "Ito para sa paborito kong apo," and then a blank screen. I press the down arrow many times more and still a blank screen. Then finally, "Ano ba ang hinahanap mo? Apo ba kita?"
And this one:
"Please be careful when going through a McDonalds Drive-Thru. Keep your doors locked, your windows up and beware of strangers lurking around you. Baka bigla na lang pumasok si Sharon Cuneta sa kotse mo!"
Bessie Badilla: Tulog kna, di ka gudnyt? Hmmp! Wiwi k sana kama mo!
